I thought I had tried it all. I have counted calories and macros, worked out obsessively at times, tried Weight Watchers, Overeaters Anonymous, and low carbohydrate diets including keto. Each time I would be "on-track" for a few weeks or months, then inevitably end up binging on junk food, feel ashamed, and eventually just quit. I heard about Kate from my sister, who has also worked with her. I thought surely a Registered Dietitian could help me lose weight! Little did I know, working with Kate would change my entire outlook on food and body image in just a few short months, and that has been infinitely more valuable than losing a few pounds.

Kate's approach to food freedom seemed strange at first. No counting, no restricting. I learned that food is just food. There are no "bad" foods or "good" foods. I learned to listen to my body and learned how certain foods make me feel. Some chocolate is fine; a lot of it gives me heartburn. I learned to eat mindfully, which means less eating on the couch in front of the television. I'm still working on this one! I learned to accept my body as it is and not feel ashamed of it. Do I still want to lose weight? Sure, and I'm working on it in a much healthier way than in the past. I also don't beat myself up about my current size and shape. Instead, I focus on what my body can do. I enjoy lifting weights and am proud of being strong.

Kate's program is not always easy. It has been uncomfortable at times as I've learned new things and grown out of comfort zones, but if you are willing to be honest and put in some effort, the fruits of this labor are precious and, I expect, will last a lifetime.

Kate in not about dieting and deprivation. Kate is about a healthy lifestyle, a positive relationship with food, and a positive self-image. It took me awhile to accept that what I needed was NOT another diet, but instead a better understanding of my behaviors and their root causes, and why I really wanted to be healthier. Once I was able to do this, I was able to develop better eating habits, such as portion control and mindfulness, better exercise habits, and a better outlook on life.

This journey was not always easy, but Kate was always supportive, understanding, and very kind. My experience with Kate was extremely positive. I highly recommend Kate to anyone who wants to permanently say good-bye to dieting, and hello to a healthy lifestyle.

When I started working with Kate it was an extraordinarily vulnerable moment for me- having to actually confront my negative feelings of self worth and say them out loud was distressing and terrifying. But Kate has responded with so much kindness, positivity, and a gentle strength that truly boosts my spirit and confidence. I think it is so important to find the right person to work with because diet and health really is tied into mindset and self love. You need someone you can feel comfortable opening up to and wants you to succeed- sometimes I wonder if Kate is a registered dietician with a minor in nutrition therapy. This has been such a worthwhile experience and is definitely worth it!
